Kate Naylor, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist living and working in the Austin area.  As a teacher before, and now as a therapist, my experience in a variety of settings built an understanding of people as an interconnected system - the internal system of mind/body/spirit as well as the interconnectedness of family, society, and the larger web of life.  My personal roles as a wife, a mother, a daughter, and a friend have only served to deepen my appreciation for the joys and pains of living a full and connected life.

My work with therapists, parents, and families is focused on safely recognizing what is, compassionately letting loose the parts that no longer serve, and consciously practicing a new way of being.  I draw from interpersonal neurobiology, trauma and attachment science, psychodrama, yoga, ecopsychology, and systems theory. My approach is largely experiential - my clients can expect to “do” as much as they “talk”.

As a life long horsewoman, my introduction to Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy offered a science-based foundation from which to integrate horses into my therapy work more holistically, and now, I rarely work out of a traditional office.  I am certified through The Natural Lifemanship Institute as a clinician, equine professional, and trainer of the approach.

You are always welcome to contact me to ask questions, learn more about what I do, or to set up a consultation or appointment.  It is my great joy in life to get to know people - I hope to hear from you.
